List Poem

The Irish capital
such a beautiful
place to live
where the biggest
shamrock is
a perfect town
not too big,
not too small
It's not just a town,
it's home
so be proud
of this town
where we take
pride in being
the Eagles

Persona Poem

I am tired of being used,
over and over.
Everyday I shrink,
getting smaller...
and smaller.
I'm used for taking away words on paper,
I should have more respect.
When I'm not needed, I'm locked up inside a jail.
Oh how I am tired
of being over-used.

Nebraska's a great place
so full of grace
you can smell the clean air
and feel the breeze in your hair
known for the corn,
and the new cattle born
the beautiful stars in the sky,
and the fluffy clouds up high
So here we live, in this great state of our's
roaming in the fields of corn and flowers

Winter Poem

brisk, harsh, cold
wood burning, hot cocoa, cookies baking
Christmas carols, freezing wind blowing
crisp, sweet, chilly

Acrostic Poems

Oh no
More hours
Extra work
Waste of time
Outrageously tiring

Killing me

Rhyming Poems

Once I had a pet rat
        who was way too fat
the rat sat on a hat
the hat flattened into a mat
         which upsetted the cat
         who chased the rat
         and made the rat scat
            out the door
          and the fat rat
        was seen no more

What does achievement mean to me? After watching the Blindsight about blind kids  climbing Mt. Everest, I felt like I could achieve anything.

Achievement to me means accomplishing something big or small. You may not reach your may goal, but you will most likely achieve something. Achievement isn't always about winning. Taking chances is a form of achievement. Always do your hardest and you will accomplish something

In the movie they wanted to climb to the top of the mountain. They didn't make it, but they went to an ice palace near to it. They worked really hard getting through the base camps like going through harsh weather and getting headaches. They were encountering these things being blind, which is amazing.

Achievement relates to my life when I accomplish something. I accomplish a lot of things, big and small. Last year I got mostly A’s all year long and that was a real big deal. I also have goals. I am learning how to play the drums and hopefully be able to play them well by the time I'm fifteen.

Freedom in America
“Freedom isn’t free.” What do you think of when you hear these words? What does Freedom mean to you? Freedom is not free because our veterans fight and sacrifice for freedom. Freedom in the USA is important because of the flag, ways to celebrate freedom, and what it means to me.

What does freedom mean to me? Freedom is liberty, sacrificing, and being able to choose and vote. Veterans have to leave their families to go out and fight for our freedom. They have to be brave and they sacrifice so much. A lot of them will die fighting for America. I think freedom is very important, imagine life without it. You wouldn't have a lot of the luxuries and other stuff you have. You would not have the right to vote. Also, you would not be able to have religious freedom. Let us be proud we are Americans and stop by our veterans and say thank you. It means a lot to them to be told thank you for all they have done. Veterans are amazing people and they are very, very important.

Celebrating freedom is amazing. There are many different ways to celebrate freedom in this country. If you have a family member who has served or is serving this country to come home, make a party for them. If you go to Norfolk on the Fourth of July, you might go to the parade or to the Big Bang Boom. The Big Bang Boom is a huge firework show at a big pond in Norfolk. We go every year. There are many huge fireworks and lots of food. Another way to celebrate freedom is on Veteran’s Day. Yesterday was Veteran’s Day and we went to the gym to listen to a Veteran’s Day program. Be proud that you are American and show that you are proud.

I am sure that you have seen the American flag everywhere. Court houses, in the school, at football games (and other games), in people’s yards, and of course other places. This flag that you see represents our freedom. Look at all of the fifty stars on the left side. Those stand for all of the fifty states in this amazing country. There are thirteen stripes and those stand for the thirteen colonies. The red on the flag symbolizes valor and bravery. The blue symbolizes justice and vigilance and the white stands for purity and innocence. All of these colors are what make up this flag, which is an important United States symbol.

Freedom is momentous because of what it means to us, ways we can celebrate it, and the history of our flag. We should all take a minute and think about how important freedom is. Next time you see a veteran, look at them and say, “Thank you for your service.” They deserve a nice thank-you for what they do for us.

My Ghost Story

I am pretty sure that if you came to the OHS high school, you would definitely regret it. We are all terrified of Freddy, the Friday Ghost. You’re probably wondering who that is. Well, yes obviously he is a ghost, but he only shows up on Fridays.
He frightens even the big tough bullies. Freddy is just a figure; he is faceless and he is a very dark, dark purple. He has no hair and is very short and chubby with a hunchback. If you see him, you are very lucky because he is rarely seen or heard. Freddy is not much of a talker at all, in fact no one has heard him talk before. Although he doesn't talk, he is very noisy! Banging pots and pans and flickering lights are his favorite activities. To get around, Freddy flies supremely silently with his pitch black wings. His weakness is being in the sun. That is his worst enemy, so no sunlight for Freddy! Since he only shows up on Fridays, the rest of the week he sits with his BBQ potato chips and watches TV in the storage room.
Another personality trait Freddy has is that he is mischievous. I’m talking about very mischievous. He’s always breaking kids’ pencils in front of their faces or flushing the toilets all day. He enjoys seeing the looks on the kids’ faces whenever he does something dishonest. Another one of his favorite activities is taking toilet paper and putting it everywhere around the school. He really makes the principal mad, but he loves doing that.
Yesterday we were all in gym class inside the gym. The lights at the top of the gym started swinging back and fourth and all of a sudden one came crashing down. Everyone screamed and ran out of the gym. Later that day, we were eating lunch when we saw a floating spray can spraying paint on the vending machines. We were glad to get out of school that day!

So if you plan to come to the OHS high school, you better think twice.

              Slender Man
Slender Man stalks soundlessly
Slender Man stalks soundlessly, creepily
stalks soundlessly, creepily, quickly
soundlessly, creepily, quickly, disturbingly

My Halloween At Hogwarts

Halloween at Hogwarts

My halloween at Hogwarts was amazing! When I first meandered into the room, everything was so marvelous! I saw drifting pumpkins and children flying their brooms around. It was stunning! I saw candles at the monstrous table with elegant napkins. Everything was excellent and perfect. The embellished chandelier that reflected light really captured  my deliberation, it was gorgeous

I could not wait to devour all the delicious food on the mountainous table. There was all kinds of food like steak, prime rib, mashed potatoes and gravy, pumpkin pie, jello, and much, MUCH more! I sat down and dug into the food right away. I couldn't wait for the freshly baked pumpkin pie, with lots of peanuts and whipped cream on top, yum!

Out of the corner of my eye I could see a variety of activities taking place. Broom flying, food contests, magic tricks, carving magical pumpkins, and more. They looked fun but I did not want to rush through all of this food. I figured I would be way too gorged to do activities, anyway. This is one of the best feasts I have ever been to before.

Three things that i learned from doing this project are:
     1. I learned how to use iMovie
     2. I learned that I am me and I'm proud to be me
     3. I learned that making an iMovie isn't as bad as I thought it would be

Dot Day

It is September 15th, that means it is National Dot Day! I like designing dots and coloring them. That is what we did today. We even listened to a story called "The Dot". After that story, I will think of it every time it is Dot Day. The story talks about a girl who believes she cannot draw anything. Her art teacher tells her to put a dot on her paper and see where it leads her. The girl does that, and the next week she sees the dot hanging in a golden swirly frame. She thought that she could do better than that so she went home and drew a bunch of different colors and sizes of dots. All of her dots went to the art show and were displayed. The girl learned that she can succeed if she can believe in herself. I look at Dot Day as a day to believe in yourself.

My Unforgettable Day at School! :)

Kateri Wichman
English 7 - Period 4

An Unforgettable School Day

It was a regular, tedious day in O’Neill’s preschool and it was playtime. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do, but I know that I liked puzzles. It all started when I went to the shelf of puzzles.
In the past, I have done many puzzles before with my mom and my dad. So I knew how to do them, but I didn’t know how to do complicated puzzles. When I got a puzzle board out, I wanted to see what other kinds of puzzles they had. I wanted to do one with a pretty picture on it, so I thought I could just take all of the puzzles out and then just pick one that I wanted to do.
There were many puzzles on that shelf to choose from! Then here comes the bad part. As I was taking down all of the puzzles from the shelf, all of the pieces scattered everywhere! I was not sure which puzzle pieces went to each board, I was so confused. I didn’t want to be in trouble so I just randomly put puzzle pieces on each board, it was a mess!! It wouldn’t be good if the teachers noticed it, because it looked like a large mess of confusion. I just had to hope they wouldn't notice because I didn't know what else to do. I didn't want to tell them because I thought they would yell. I didn’t want them to do that.
Of coarse, the teachers noticed the random pile of puzzle pieces on the shelf. They were angry about it. I think it made them more mad than just to ask them for help at the first time I needed help. They tried to tell me to put them all together but I really didn't know how so I just stood there. Then they had to figure out which puzzle pieces went to each board and made the other kids do some while I did one too. Finally all of the puzzles were completed and put back onto the shelf

I have learned a very important lesson from all of this. Always ask for help the first time you need help, rather than to wait. After that, I wasn't worried to ask them for help the first time I needed help because I knew they wouldn't be as mad. That was my unforgettable day at school.

Here is my room, it’s not very big. First thing you should see is my white door. It is one of those foldable doors that folds when you open it. The diamond- shaped mirror is what you would see if you entered my room. Hanging by just one nail, that mirror is very strong. There are two closets near to the door of my room. They are kind of hard to see so you probably wouldn't notice them. In front of the closet you can walk into, my lime green bungee chair sits, green and round. Then you would approach my wooden dresser full of clothes, socks, and headbands. I also keep my tablet in there just because I will know where it is. Sitting on the wooden dresser is my alarm clock and my special brown cat lamp. My cat lamp has different shades of brown and has green eyes. It is made from a type of tough glass, so it is heavy.
And then there is my twin bed, with its bubblegum colored cover with different kinds of flower prints. By my bed you would see a table with baskets of perfumes and scented lotions given to me by my Grandma. Across the room is my small, old TV. It sits on top of my old armoire, full of Strawberry Shortcake stickers from when I was about five or six. I hardly ever use my TV, so it just collects dust. Then you will see my little, fancy jar of polished, colored pebbles sitting by my TV. My Grandpa spends most of his time cutting hair at the barber shop, but sometimes he will polish rocks for me. By my jar of pretty pebbles, is my special angel statue, also from my Grandpa who lives in California. Dolphins swim at the feet of the angel with sparkles on her pink wings. I am rich beyond measure.
